THE ARRIVAL OF THE FIRST LEXUS LS
After 6-year development with thousands of designs and 50 full-size clay models, extensive worldwide testing with over 100 vehicles went through crash test. In the year of 1989, Lexus redefined the luxury automobile with the introduction of the LS400. The first Lexus LS400 commercial video was presented globally to impress viewers with its remarkable stability performance. The champagne tower stood on the hood was extremely stable, even after the engine was started and accelerated. This marks Lexus reaching an important and crucial position in the automobile industry.

The 1993 LS400 debuts, featuring more than 50 additions and improvements, many of which are in direct response to customer requests.

THE FIRST LEXUS GS
The launch of the stunning Giugiaro-styled GS300, with sophisticated walnut console and door panel inserts, sets a new standard for dashboard layout.

THE LAUNCH OF SECOND GENERATION LS400
As founder Eiji Toyota is honoured as the second Japanese auto maker ever to be inducted into Detroit's Automotive Hall of Fame, the dramatically redesigned second-generation LS400 launches. Customer feedback plays a large role in its overhaul, with more than 90% of its components new or refigured for optimal luxury and satisfaction. In their efforts to compete with Lexus' quality, performance and commitment to customers, European auto manufacturers up their game with lower priced and near-luxury vehicles, V8 engines and greater attention to customer service.

THE FIRST LEXUS RX
The 4x4 RX300, developed from early concept drawings for the Toyota Harrier, makes its US debut. This commanding entrant to the luxury SUV market features a V6 3.0 litre VVT-I engine, and Power, Normal and Snow modes.

Europe catches its first tantalizing glimpse of IS200, a stylish compact sedan featuring superior handling and safety features, a luxurious equipment package and fully loaded dashboard.

THE WORLD'S FIRST MARK LEVINSON AUTOMOTIVE SOUND SYSTEM
First made available on the Lexus LS. After rejecting several automakers, this producer of six-figure home-audio systems finally found a line of vehicles quiet enough to allow full enjoyment of their unparalleled technology.

THE FIRST LF CONCEPT
The LF-S concept debuts at the Tokyo Motor Show. In addition to being the first of many LF concepts to come, it signifies a new design direction for the brand and marks the first time a Lexus vehicle is equipped with a hybrid powertrain. Among its noteworthy design elements: a profile that seamlessly transitions to the rear and a completely transparent, panoramic roof.

LEXUS 2054 CONCEPT FROM MINORITY REPORT
Lexus peers ahead to the year 2054 with superstar film director Steven Spielberg to create Tom Cruise's car for the futuristic thriller Minority Report. The result is the iconic Lexus 2054, a bold red concept car powered by fuel cells and loaded with advanced safety features.

Innovative Lexus researchers bestow upon the world‘s first circular carbon fibre braider, used to create a stronger, lighter, more fuel efficient body shell in the Lexus LFA.

THE WORLD'S FIRST LUXURY HYBRID - RX400H
Lexus changes the face of the luxury automotive industry with the world's first luxury hybrid, the RX400h. Proving that efficiency needn't come at the expense of performance, this intelligent design brings together a 3.3-litre V6 gasoline engine and high-output electric motors to produce the superb performance normally found in a V8 engine together with exceptional fuel efficiency and significantly reduced emissions.
